The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is a budget-friendly Bluetooth speaker and the upgraded version of the OontZ Angle 3. With this generation, OontZ has added voice assistant support for your smartphone's Google Assistant or Siri and increased its water resistance rating to IPX7. It also has a companion app with bass and treble sliders, and a long-lasting battery life of over 20 hours. However, it really struggles to reproduce low-bass, so your audio lacks thump and rumble. It also doesn't get very loud, although there aren't a lot of compression artifacts at max volume.
Our Verdict
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is disappointing for music. While its neutral mid-range ensures vocals and lead instruments are present and clear in your mixes, its sound profile almost completely lacks low-bass. Even though it can play stereo content, its soundstage is a bit uneven and it has narrow directivity, so your audio may not sound clear from all directions. On the upside, it has bass and treble sliders so you can customize its sound. Even though it can't get very loud, there aren't a lot of compression artifacts at max volume, so your audio sounds clean and pure at max volume.

The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is poor for movies. It really struggles to reproduce low-bass, so sound effects in your favorite movies lack thump and boom. While it can play stereo content, its directivity is narrow, so your audio may not sound as clear and immersive from all directions. It also has high latency on Android, which could disrupt your experience if you're streaming video. That said, even though it can't get very loud, there isn't a lot of compression at max volume. Its latency on iOS devices is lower, but note that some apps and devices compensate for latency differently.

The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is alright for podcasts. The speaker is portable, thanks to its battery-powered, Bluetooth design, and it has a balanced mid-range, so vocal-centric content is fairly clear and accurate. However, a dip in the treble range can make speech sound a little dark and veiled. You also won't be able to connect it to more than one device at a time or connect multiple units for multi-room use.

The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is poor for voice assistant support. It doesn't have any built-in voice assistant capabilities, so it just uses the system on your paired smartphone. As part of our methodology, we use recorded voice commands to test the speaker. However, the speaker didn't respond to some of these commands, even when there isn't any ambient noise present. While it responded to a normal speaking voice, this isn't part of our testing process.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA comes in two color variants: 'Black' and 'White'. We tested the White variant and you can see its label here. That said, Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ also makes a few similarly designed and named speakers with slightly different specs.

Compared To Other Speakers
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is a budget-friendly wireless speaker. It's the upgraded variant of the OontZ Angle 3 and has a more neutral sound profile, supports your smartphone's voice assistant, comes with a companion app with bass and treble sliders, and has an IPX7 rating for water resistance, although we don't currently test for it. However, like many small speakers, it really struggles to reproduce low-bass or get loud. Test Results
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA has a very similar triangular look to the OontZ Angle 3, but is a bit wider. It's still small enough to fit in your hand, though. It also has a fine metal grille and rubberized buttons. It comes in two color variants: 'White' and 'Black'.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is outstandingly portable. It's small, lightweight, and can be carried with one hand. It's also battery-powered, so you can easily take it outdoors.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA has a decent build quality. Just like the OontZ Angle 3, it's mostly made from less-than-premium feeling plastic, with a rubber coating on its buttons and a metal grille to help protect its drivers. It also has a higher IPX7 rating for water resistance, although we don't currently test for this.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA has very good controls. They're located on the triangular side of the speaker and are easy to press. You can adjust the speaker's volume, play or pause audio, and skip your track forward or backward. The Bluetooth button allows you to pair devices as well as answer, end, or reject incoming calls. The power button also lets you activate voice assistant support when paired, and you can long-press the play button for dual mode if you have another unit and want to use them as a stereo pair. In addition to buttons, there's also a light indicator to let you know your current input and battery life.

The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA's frequency response accuracy is poor. When placed horizontally, it really struggles to reproduce low-bass, so genres like EDM and hip-hop lack significant thump and rumble. The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA has a just okay soundstage. While this speaker can play stereo content without downmixing it, its directivity is small and narrow, so audio may not sound clear from all angles. There's also a peak in the treble range, which results in an uneven soundstage. If you want a speaker with a more 360-degree sound, consider the Limitless Innovations TikiTunes instead.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA has a satisfactory dynamics performance. It doesn't get as loud as the OontZ Angle 3, but there are minimal compression artifacts, so your audio should sound fairly pure, even at a high volume.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA's battery performance is great. It lasts over 20 hours on a single charge, which is on-par for its advertised battery life. That said, its advertised charge time is seven hours and while we measured less than that, it's still quite a long recharge time compared to the OontZ Angle 3. That said, battery life can vary according to usage, so your experience may differ. On the upside, it shuts off after 30 minutes without audio to conserve battery life.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA has a bad voice assistant performance. It doesn't have any built-in voice assistant capabilities, so it just uses the voice assistants from your paired smartphone. As part of our methodology, we use recorded voice commands to test the speaker. However, it had some difficulty registering these commands, even when there isn't any ambient noise present. It can register commands from a normal speaking voice, but this isn't part of our testing process.
The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA's companion app is good. It can be used on iOS or Android, and it gives you access to bass and treble sliders if you want to adjust the speaker's sound. You can also connect two units to create a stereo pair, or link multiple units to cover a large space with the same audio.
